John and his wife Nancy moved to The Pines from Davidson where they lived for 10 years in the 1980s and for four years before moving to The Pines. Both are graduates of Dickinson College. After completing a M.Div. from Harvard University, John served as Chaplain at the Dana Hall School and serves on the Board of the Davidson Lands Conservancy. He later received a PhD from Syracuse University and served as a Dean and VP at Davidson College, President of Lyon College and President of Presbyterian College. He is an ordained PCUSA minister and a partner in Ballentine Consulting Partners, LLC. John has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, the Chamber of Commerce, DCPC, DavidsonLearns, the Ada Jenkins Center and numerous organizations at The Pines. His interests include swimming, walking, yoga, watercolor painting, singing, bridge, biking, and poker. The Griffiths have two sons: one in Raleigh and one in Newfields, N.H. They have five grandchildren.
